The 2009/2010 Junior Trout Master final was held at Stonebridge fishery North Allerton on the 24th and 25th July. I was at the event in the role of Proud Dad and daughter Emily although up against older and more experiebnced fishermen gave a good account of herself, but unfortunately did not make the final 12.
The event was well run and thoroughly enjoyable as both spectator and competitor, for which I should like to thank Richard at the fishery and the Salmon and Trout association whose members were on hand to give advice and as stewards to the competitors. England Team member Nick halstead was also on hand to help and give advice not that the competitors needed it.
Fishing was hard and the final was a nail biting affair with the eventual winner catching only two fish in the final; the second in the last minute of the event. A full report will be in this months Trout Fisherman Magazine, who also deserve thanks and their sponsor also.
I also managed to do some instuction helping Jeff Metcalf a local instructor to the fishery, very nice chap and if you are in the area give him a call tel 01347 838794 or see his web site www.tek2flyfishing.co.uk.
I am sure he will be able to help.
